Baby girl wants her rattle and blanket, stat! I think I’d like to go back in time, hang in my playpen, pick my nose, eat some animal crackers, drink some apple juice and stare at the TV for a few hours. All the while this little diddy from The Lemons is playing over some kiddie programming where adults are dancing around in crappy furry costumes. That sounds absolutely blissful right now! Good grief, I mean, I’ve began to experience my quarter life crisis and this involved the realization that I actually have to do things instead of watch cartoon Beetlejuice every day. It was a very devastating realization, trust me.

In any case, Chicago’s newest kiddie pop sensation, The Lemons, will bring you two things: They will make you miss your youth like you’ve never missed it before and/or they will make you want to listen to something angrier than Joan Crawford’s character in Mommie Dearest. I had both reactions to the 14 track album Hello, We’re The Lemons. I love it and I hate for different reasons. It makes me feel old and young at the same time. What a conundrum. I could easily see this becoming the soundtrack to some little kid’s 4th birthday party where all the kids are sucking the living day light out of helium balloons and stuffing their faces with mass amounts of chocolate cake and ice cream. (Again, missing my youth.) The Lemons released their tape on on Tripp Tapes and Gnar Tapes & Sh*t in January but you can get an instant digital download via The Lemons’ bandcamp page. They even have a few songs you can download for free. Sweet deal. Even your grounded little brother with no allowance this week can download it! If you are into that sugar coated, lighthearted, marshmallow puff goodness, this is the album for you!
