crystales, lie here awake, track, lo-pie, 2015, lopie, lo pie, lo pie music

L.A. three-piece Crystales call Highland Park home but they were formed in the South Bay, and those warm and breezy beach vibes are palpable in the hazy tones of their perfectly pleasant indie pop.

Unlike the band members’ various other projects (The Squids, Cheesecake Factory, Hunx and his Punx), Crystales play low-key, low tide dream pop awash in melancholy. Having previously released a digital 7-inch recorded by Joel Jerome, Crystales are back with “Live Awake At Night”, taken from an upcoming digital 5-song EP. The song is simple and the melody familiar, the lyrics plaintive and maybe a little sad: “Staring at the moon/Wishing you could be lying next to me.” If you’re into it, you’ll be pleased to know Crystales is planning to record a full-length this year.

Crystales have a March residency at Melody Lounge featuring acts such as Moaning, Roses, Michael Vidal and others. Lo-Pie presents tonight’s incarnation with Bad Vibes, Big Tits, Moaning and The Squids. See the full line-up and RSVP right here.
