The post-punk melody of Pocket Rocket’s “Pound Street Revival” is a head-banging good time, for the most part. Each member in the trio brings their own element of dark alt-rock to a cohesively noisy track, albeit a slightly immature one. The large amount of repetition in their riffs speaks to their inexperience. The Pocket Rockets’ sound is basically garage rock without much innovation or experimentation, leaving the listener without much to work with. It’s impossible to discern them from other bands you might hear on the weekends practicing in your neighborhood. “Pound Street Revival” might have reached awesome proportions if there was a female vocalist to turn it into an angsty riot grrrl snarl. Maybe next time.
